Breckenridge
Having designed our client’s primary residence years earlier, this ground-up mountain home gave us the opportunity to create something entirely different. Nestled just outside Breckenridge, this six-bedroom retreat was designed as a place to slow down, reconnect, and enjoy every season Colorado has to offer. Whether it’s hiking in the summer, skiing in the winter, or simply gathering around the fire after a day outdoors, every decision was made with family and friends in mind.
The home was thoughtfully planned to welcome a crowd without ever feeling overwhelming. Expansive gathering spaces encourage long dinners, game nights, and conversations that linger well into the evening, while each bedroom was designed to maximize flexibility. Guest suites pair king beds with custom built-in bunks, allowing multiple generations to stay comfortably under one roof. At the same time, two spacious primary suites ensure the home feels just as inviting when it’s a quiet weekend with only one other family or their own children.
Throughout the home, we leaned into a warm, timeless material palette that feels right at home in the mountains without relying on rustic clichés. Natural stone, white oak, steel, and soft, layered textiles create spaces that are both refined and deeply comfortable. Thoughtful details, from the sculptural stone fireplace and custom built-ins to the spa-inspired bathrooms and expansive kitchen designed for cooking together, reinforce the idea that this home is meant to be lived in, not simply admired.
Because our clients are vegan, material selections were approached with an added level of intention, ensuring no animal-derived products were incorporated into the furnishings or finishes. It’s a subtle detail, but one that reflects how personal and collaborative the design process was from beginning to end.
Ultimately, this home was designed to become part of the family’s traditions. A place where grandparents, cousins, lifelong friends, and future generations can gather under one roof, creating memories in one of Colorado’s most spectacular settings.
